A fresh look for one of New Mexico’s most visited state museums
The National Hispanic Cultural Center (NHCC) is truly one of Albuquerque’s hidden gems. Home to visual art, dance, theatre, live music, and research, the NHCC campus has something for everyone.
Underselling itself
There’s always something going on at NHCC and the previous NHCC website design was not translating that into an active web experience. Thus, re-envisioning how NHCC presented themselves online was a primary focus of the redesign.
Perceptions aside, ease-of-use was very important due to their user base—young and old, local and non-local. This meant rethinking the entire information architecture of the site based on their Google Analytics data and internal goals of the organization.
Design direction
My goal for NHCC’s new look was something that was fresh but rooted in Hispanic culture the world over. And, while it was in no way a requirement of the project, I believed that any rebranding effort would fail if it could not pair with NHCC’s unique architectural aesthetic.
Visual language
A collection of glyphs and patterns were created for online and on-site use.
