Creating a brand worth geeking out over
The founders of this start-up were in need of a brand eco-system that both casual and hardcore Gamers could love and want to be associated with. As both a designer and long-time Gamer, the challenge here was evoking authenticity while maintaining mass appeal.
In other words, this new identity had to visual the brand’s need to resonate with hardcore gamers without excluding normies.
“I don’t think yall need a logo. You need a mascot.”
Those were my words to the co-founders during our kickoff meeting.
So, why a raccoon? I think the co-founders put it best:
“Well if you ever researched raccoons, sometimes it is hard to differentiate raccoons from Gamers.
Nocturnal. Check.
Intelligent. Check.
Has a small group of friends. Check.
Really good with their hands. Double Check.
We rest our case.”
